  4. I was in operation deep freeze 5 and 6 summer support as a construction electrician power. I am living in Fl. and retired from doing what I did in the Seabees’

  6. VX-6 ’62 – ’64 was AE2 working primarily C-130’s with some flying. A wonderful experience from Quonset to Chi-Chi to McMurdo. Have “Puckered Pete” patch on my M/C vest and am asked about it a lot. Retired and living in central Florida, finally getting warm !! Bruce Lamoureux

  7. it’s been a long time winter over 82′ in the water plant.

  8. Three very memorable yrs on the ice in ’71, ’72, ’73 as C130 flight crewmember. On board JD318 during crash and burn at Willy Field. On board JD321 during crash at D59. All the memories are as if they happened yesterday. Looking for Jim Long from Louisiana who also attended SERE school in Rangely Maine with me and Mike Hall prior to deployment to the ice in 1970.

  11. It has been 48 years since I celebrated Christmas Day at Byrd Station, I lived at Longwire Station about 11 miles from Byrd, drove to Byrd in a Tucker-Sno-Cat. Merry Christmas :-))

      Was Deepfreeze 3 the same as IGY? My father (Kirby Hanson) spent 18 months there.

  15. It has been a long time since I was on the ICE. Spent the summer of 1967 at Longwire Station, (about an hour drive in a Tucker Sno-Cat from Byrd Station and spent the winter at McMurdo. I was a USARP mechanic.
